Smarter than a generic conversion
Panmetry accounts for real cooking factors instead of forcing every recipe into one universal rule.
From a quick answer to a more precise estimate
Need a result now? Use the basic calculation. Want to include more details? Move to the advanced or maximum-precision calculation.
More than time and temperature
See when to start checking and how much the result may vary in real cooking conditions.
Why Panmetry is more precise than a generic conversion
Many quick converters use one generic rule for every recipe.
Panmetry works differently. It can account for oven type, food, basket load, thickness, preheating and air fryer characteristics — the conditions that can actually change cooking time and temperature.
Instead of one converted number, you get:
- Recommended temperature
- Target cooking time
- When to start checking
- Expected time range
- An explanation of what affected the result
Quick Oven-to-Air-Fryer Conversion Chart
This chart shows averaged values and is intended only as a quick guide. It does not account for your specific food, thickness, basket load, air fryer type or other cooking conditions.
For a more accurate result, use the calculator above. Panmetry accounts for more of the conditions that matter and calculates temperature, target cooking time, when to start checking and the expected time range for your cooking setup.

Air fryer conversion questions
How do I convert an oven recipe for an air fryer?
Enter the recipe temperature and cooking time, then tell Panmetry whether the recipe uses a conventional or fan / convection oven. Panmetry will calculate a recommended air fryer temperature, target cooking time, when to start checking and an expected time range. For a more precise estimate, you can also add the food, basket load, air fryer type and other cooking conditions.
How do I convert oven temperature to air fryer temperature?
There is no single temperature adjustment that works equally well for every recipe. At minimum, it matters whether the recipe temperature is for a conventional oven or a fan / convection oven. Panmetry accounts for that in the Basic calculation and can then refine the estimate using the food and cooking conditions.
How do I convert oven cooking time to air fryer time?
Air fryer cooking time is often shorter, but cutting every recipe by the same percentage is too crude. Potatoes, meat, baked goods and other foods respond differently to heat and airflow. Enter the original recipe time and Panmetry will calculate a recommended cooking time and separately show when you should start checking for doneness.
Do conventional and convection ovens convert to an air fryer the same way?
No. A fan / convection oven already uses forced hot-air circulation, so it should not be converted in exactly the same way as a conventional oven without a fan. That is why the source oven type is part of Panmetry’s Basic calculation.
Can I convert an air fryer recipe back to an oven?
Yes. Switch to Air Fryer → Oven, enter the air fryer recipe temperature and time, then choose the oven type you plan to use. Panmetry will calculate the recommended oven temperature and time. Because the reverse conversion is less predictable, the time range will be wider.
Does the calculator work in Celsius and Fahrenheit?
Yes. You can switch between °C and °F directly in the calculator. The selected system is used for the temperature input, results, safety references and conversion chart, so US recipes do not need to be converted to Celsius first.
Can I convert a recipe for frozen food?
Yes. If your food is frozen but the original recipe assumes fresh or thawed food, select that in the Advanced calculation. Panmetry can account for the different starting state instead of applying the same time estimate unchanged.
How accurate is an oven-to-air-fryer conversion chart?
A chart is an averaged reference. It does not know what you are cooking, how thick it is, how full the basket is, which air fryer you use or whether it was preheated. For a specific recipe, the calculator above can account for far more conditions and give a more useful estimate.
Why does Panmetry show a time range instead of only one number?
Because two air fryers — and even two portions of the same food — can cook differently. Panmetry shows a recommended cooking time, a first-check point and an expected time range. Extra details help it account for your actual cooking conditions and can reduce the uncertainty around that estimate.
